DOUBLEMENT VIDE (Doubly Empty)

DOUBLEMENT VIDE is a conceptual digital artwork consisting of a fully transparent PNG file. It presents no visible image, yet exists as a verifiable digital object with a defined structure and binary identity.

The work explores the relationship between absence and existence, originality and duplication. Its two identical digital exemplars raise questions about uniqueness and identity in the digital age.

Depending on the display environment, the transparent image may appear differently against different backgrounds, while the underlying file remains unchanged. SHA-256 (Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit) is a cryptographic hash function that generates a 256-bit digital fingerprint, usually displayed as 64 hexadecimal characters, from a digital file.
